Jason Singer of Singer Katz LLP Interviewed about an incident where a 9-year-old girl was allegedly attacked
September 6, 2025 – CityNews Toronto recently spoke with Jason Singer of Singer Katz LLP about an incident where a 9-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by an off-leash dog at a Toronto park. The girl was traumatized and received serious facial wounds. The dog’s owner, a minor, reportedly fled the scene, and the girl needed hospital treatment, including stitches and rabies shots.
City by-laws require dogs to be kept on a leash at all times in parks and on beaches, except in designated off-leash areas. The incident happened outside such an area.
In the interview with CityNews, Jason Singer explained the responsibilities of dog owners and liability issues in these cases, also mentioning Ontario’s laws banning Pitbull breeds.
At Singer Katz LLP, we believe everyone should feel safe in their community—whether walking in a park, jogging on a sidewalk, or visiting friends. When dog owners lose control and cause accidents, we are here to support those affected.
